Youth With A Mission (YWAM) was born in 1960. The decade was marked by an evangelistic thrust to many nations. However, the mission didn't begin to see serious multiplication of staff until the first Schools of Evangelism (SOE) began. After a week of fasting and prayer in New Zealand, Loren Cunningham, founder of YWAM, knew God was leading him to start the first school in Switzerland. Lausanne became the first training centre for YWAM in 1969.
