While in Los Angeles, Bruce Thompson is able to virtually travel to Switzerland and teach the Introduction to Biblical Counseling school in Lausanne. Bruce has been instrumental in developing the Divine Plumbline teaching that has transformed so many lives all around the world, both inside and outside YWAM. Through raising up the standard of the Word of God, healing and restoration is brought to individuals and communities.
The GENESIS set up in Los Angeles sits prepared for events like these, where teachers can come into a dedicated room and travel to any place in the world that is using standards-based videoconferencing equipment. Among the 70 GENESIS locations around the world, this opens up doors for UofN programs and YWAM ministries to collaborate, multiply teaching and impact people all across the globe.
While Bruce is teaching, the students in Lausanne can see him on a projection screen, where a physically present speaker would normally be. Through good introductions and preparation, such as learning names, relationships are established and a personal connection is made. As students and teacher interact, Bruce responds to the raised hand in the classroom in Switzerland and questions and comments are weaved together with the lecture, creating a truly global classroom. In Lausanne, the school staff also support the teacher by taking notes and drawing illustrations on a local white board.
Capturing a moment of this setting, there is no doubt that the corporate attention among students, staff and facilitators is high. Many are serving to secure the delivery of the content and the significance of having an anointed teacher with authority on the subject is high. In the end, students are impacted by truth, wisdom and insight gained through a life that has practiced what is taught. As they take hold of it, their lives are changed, and multiplication takes place.
At the end of a week like this, there is normally a bonding taking place, where relationships have grown that give a great support for continued inspiration and impact, much like if the person had been there physically.
We are thankful that people like Bruce Thompson can have such an impact in the lives of young people that are passionate to bring healing to the nations.
