Africa Cable Live!

by Sindre Vaernes - July 23, 2009

Many have been longing for the day when Africa could utilize the greater potential of internet access and global communication. Through improved connectivity the potential for sharing, connecting, collaborating and reaching out is multiplied.

Today, July 23rd, the first major cable out of several, was commissioned and launched in service. This is the outcome of months of labor and deployment of fiber optic cable, mostly in the ocean, connecting Europe, Africa and Asia and by implication the rest of the world. Some of this development was delayed by the injustices of pirates outside Somalia, but has now been completed.

As service providers offers new opportunities, consumers will enjoy a broader range of options that empower them to do new things. Vision can be put into practice and new initiatives will become reality. It’s time to move into the arena and fill the space with righteous activity that will promote positive development, unity and collaboration among nations and peoples.
