An event maturing, yet filled with a desire to be an expression of God’s heart tuned in for relevance and impact, One Voice continues to bring the YWAM family together. On September 2nd at 9pm (GMT) we gather again to celebrate the name of Jesus in song, dance, proclamation and prayer. Around the world nations and generations will be joined together through GENESIS, setting the stage for cultural expressions in worship where anointed leaders take us deeper into the presence of God. As the Year of Jubilee unfolds, it is our greatest desire that we all walk closer with Him and have a greater passion to see His glory fill the earth.

As the University of the Nations continues growing, reaching thousands of locations around the world, geographic, social and virtual, it is imperative that we consider how to bring relevance and quality to every individual. God continues to connect our mission to great resources in the market place. How do we properly multiply truth and the teaching of the ways of God rapidly? Transforming truth relies greatly on the work of the Holy Spirit in the process of bringing revelation. Personal involvement is critical, so staff and leadership development are vital components in facilitating change.

In the global classroom we also need to work on securing delivery of transforming content. This can range from staff and teachers on site, travelling teachers, audio and video resources, print and more. Once we go beyond the personal experience on site, technology gets involved as a means of connecting or multiplying. The whole world is different because of the invention of the printing press, or even the ink pens that monks used prior to this. The Bibles we all read or listen to are fruits of technological advancements, profoundly used by the Holy Spirit to change our lives.

As we consider the opportunities, huge potential is found in the area of technology, serving our mission to go to every nation and reach every creature with the Gospel of the Kingdom.
We’re standing at the threshold of unique ways to impact millions of people. In this context GENESIS will continue to serve the multiplication of UofN training, bringing quality teaching to the nations of the earth.

One Voice Glimpses

The One Voice event connected more than 300 people in 8 international locations last week. It was a powerful time on Friday as the nations joined together for this global GENESIS event to worship the Lord, as well as to hear words from one another about what God is speaking to YWAM. The 2 hours spent in prayer, worship, and prophetic words saw all the locations take turns leading worship and sharing impressions from the Word of God.

The vision of One Voice is to see the nations come together in simultaneous worship and prayer so that all the nations can truly sing His praises over the earth at the same time. GENESIS allowed this to happen as locations in the USA, England, Switzerland, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina came together in unity.

”There is great diversity in coming together in unity,” says Luzanne Esmeraldo, one of the pioneers of One Voice, as well as the leader of the events. “The heart of One Voice is having nations heard, worshipping the Lord, and hearing words of the Lord coming from a grassroots level.”

And that’s certainly what it was. In addition to the overall theme of the event—a scripture taken from Ezekiel 47 which calls us to move into deeper relationship with God—there were also words taken from participants in the many locations. In addition to the call from Lausanne to move in greater intimacy with Him, a participant in Harpenden felt that we, as YWAM, are not only being challenged to enter the “river of God” (as stated in Ezekiel), but to take a step of obedience and enter “rivers of risk.” This word flowed with what a Nashville participant had felt when he declared that “there is an urgency to share the Gospel with those who’ve not heard it,” citing Matthew 9. Another participant in Argentina then referenced Isaiah 45, declaring that God will go before us.

These words were a verification of what was shared earlier in the hour by YWAM International Chairman, Lynn Green, who spoke on Paul’s journeys from Acts 16 and Romans 15, speaking on strategy versus guidance. His word to us was to “make plans and be strategic, but leave room for the Holy Spirit to move.” The words and verses mentioned above were felt in worship after Lynn spoke out this message.

“I think God is taking us deeper, and we need to understand our challenges of not going deeper with Him,” says Luzanne. “We need to understand what it means to go deeper.”

One Voice 13 has just been completed. From Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil to the US, UK and Switzerland, 8 locations joined together in worship and celebration. Around the theme ‘Going Deeper’ we were lead into that place of intimacy with the true Father. Anointed worship leaders and active participants entered in before God to lift up the name of Jesus through song, dance and proclamation. Lynn Green, a senior YWAM leader shared a timely word to those gathered. We ought to get into the river and obey God even if we don’t understand fully how to do it all. God will give strategies as we obey Him on the way.

Every One Voice has a unique flavor and expression, being an opportunity for every location to contribute greatly to the flow and expression of the event. We so much appreciate everyone’s effort, perseverance and faith that has again made this possible.

9 Locations are joining this One Voice event. You can join the web stream here between 3pm and 5pm GMT.

Since the beginning in 2003, this global event that brings people together, bridging timezones, languages, nations and cultures, has been a place to lift up and celebrate the name of Jesus. One Voice is an opportunity to join together in great unity, expressing worship through song, dance, proclamation and other redeemed cultural expressions. Some of the most impacting moments were when we experienced the indigenous sounds of the land, like the didgeridoo from Australia, a taste of the ethnos coming before the throne of God. Prophetic words have been exchanged and brought exhortation and encouragement, deepening relationships and stirring us to pursue God to greater depths.

Today, Friday the 4th of June at 15:00 GMT we join together again, responding to this call to go deeper. Ezekiel 47 gives us an image of a river that brings healing to the nations. We’ve been called to enter into God’s river, and as we worship Him, a fruit of this is transformation that impacts the world.

GENESIS Seminar

From the 10th of May through the 20th of May YWAM Lausanne will be running a GENESIS seminar to equip coordinators in this intensive training time. During the 10 days, topics such as the History and Vision of GENESIS, the Role of the GENESIS Coordinator, Educational principles, Equipment workshops, Cultures and Communication, Event management and more will be covered by experienced teachers. Participants always testify about the great benefits of going through the training, and how it opens their understanding of how GENESIS can serve at their location as well as with global integration. Standards that Serve

The technology that delivers the content in GENESIS has always been based around international standards that are references for all major providers. This assures that one player does not monopolize the market, or that the standard will change tomorrow. The ITU standard for video communication over the Internet is called H.323. Despite rapid change and development in this area of technology, experts continue to conclude that H.323 remains the reference, and that investment in such technology will be future proof. Applications ranging from free software clients to mobile hardware-based equipment and high end telepresence systems talk together using the H.323 standard. Though GENESIS focuses on the content layer and not the technology, a reliable solution must be in place to serve an expanding global network. The global market for this type of equipment is possibly one of the most dynamic areas today, with much innovation and creativity expressed. A compelling drive to connect people across great distances, increasing collaboration and productivity, is seen throughout the entire world.

Geographic separation is no hindrance for every YWAMer to collaborate globally, as well as maximize local impact. Through GENESIS integration several groupings within our mission have found this a very productive way of working together while highly dispersed. UofN colleges, faculties and leaders work this way today. An emphasis on multiplying UofN training around the world by no means limits GENESIS to this, but rather opens up great new opportunities for having an impact in the world.

For individuals and groups of 3-4 people, installing a software client on a computer may be a great way to stay connected. This could be in the context of travel or at times residing away from a larger community. Leadership meetings, teaching, encouragement, and many forms of collaboration can happen this way.

While at times needing some initial setup, this offers an opportunity to connect with high quality, as well as joining together groups of many locations at the same time. Software clients that can connect on the h.323 videoconferencing standard are available from multiple providers. For some, this can also be a first solution before moving to a hardware-based system.

YWAMers continue going out to spread the gospel message and train people all around the world. Some of this happens in very remote places where they can at times also feel isolated. The need for connection and belonging remains vital, also because it facilitates a flow of life, encouragement, accountability and care. Internet access continues to represent an opportunity to be connected. Especially in Asia and Africa there is great development to get initial connectivity. Many are researching and pursuing the possibilities for GENESIS connectivity, which requires high-speed Internet access.

Several locations, including creative access countries, report satisfactory bandwidth which will allow them to strengthen training, remain connected relationally on a deeper level and share much other content. It also allows remote locations to share what is happening there and keep the rest of the body involved. Our friends in Uganda and Tanzania are now seeing the fruit of a major fibre optic cable that was run at the east coast of Africa. Many more countries will reap the benefits of this.

This development is very exciting, and we look forward to see many more locations able to connect across the globe.

Teaching in Turmoil

Every quarter students arrive to do UofN courses all over the world, hungry to be transformed as they receive anointed teaching from men and women who have gone before them. Then, change! A volcano erupts in Iceland, paralyzing air traffic all over Europe and with global implications. In the context of UofN training, many teachers were unable to fulfill their teaching commitments because of restraints on air travel.

Dean Sherman, one of YWAM’s international speakers, travels extensively to teach youth the ways of God in the areas of relationships, spiritual warfare and many other subjects. Not being able to fly to Europe, he could not be physically present to teach in a discipleship training school in Switzerland, but as a champion of using technology to multiply teaching, he found a way. YWAM Orlando is equipped with GENESIS and through their great service and facilitation Dean could fulfill his commitment. Teaching at rather unconventional hours of the day, Dean jokingly says “This is the first time I have been jet-lagging without traveling.” Needless to say, Dean is a great fan of GENESIS.

Paul Hawkins, another highly traveled YWAM speaker, joins Dean in sending out a rallying cry that more YWAM/UofN locations get connected with GENESIS. We are living in interesting times, yet with a stronger call than ever to go and disciple all nations.
