The story of GENESIS is one of making the impossible a reality. It’s a story of passion for the great diversity of people in this world, of hope, new opportunities, and of bringing education and endless possibilities to the most remote and forgotten places on Earth.
The story, however, is far from finished. In fact, it’s only just begun…
The GENESIS vision and idea started in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1994. Stemming from a passion to fulfill God’s calling for all nations, a small group of men and women met together to create this concept to multiply the University of the Nations. In the following years, GENESIS was shared in different UofN workshops and gatherings internationally and began to see God’s miraculous hand moving in financial provision. One of the first links occurred in 1996, when two Leadership Training Schools in Budapest and Lausanne ran simultaneously, using the GENESIS video-conferencing to receive the same teaching.
The pioneering stage of GENESIS continued into 1997 when the first two permanent locations were set in Lausanne, Switzerland and in Restenas, Sweden. During this year, we were given the opportunity to demonstrate GENESIS in the UofN workshop in South Korea. It was in this year the vision for global video-conferencing moved from its pioneering stage into a season of growth and multiplication.
In 1998 and 1999, GENESIS received true global exposure as the concept was shared in countries around the world and 9 new bases were added as permanent locations. The first 12 week GENESIS school was also launched in 1999 and proved to be a fruitful harvest of new workers as 14 students from all over the world came to participate.
By 2000, GENESIS had established its presence on every continent. This year also marked the multiplication of GENESIS schools as they were now being run yearly in both Lausanne and South Africa. By 2003, GENESIS had over 20 permanent operating locations and the first ever Multi-Point DTS was held. Three schools from Switzerland, Brazil, and Latvia linked together for the entire 12 week teaching phase.
The development of video-conferencing over IP (the Internet) is another remarkable milestone in our growth. Instead of paying per minute with ISDN, we are now able to use broadband internet. This technology has allowed us to connect at any time for a monthly flat fee. Since 2004, we have seen a fast move in the multiplication of locations, especially in the developing world.
God’s blessing has been evident over the growth and multiplication of GENESIS. New locations are being established yearly and GENESIS schools and seminars have been run in locations all over the globe. Today, we have 85 locations connected through GENESIS in all continents. God’s desire for the nations in Habakkuk 2:14 that the “Earth would be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea,” is closer to becoming realized. God has truly taken the impossible and turned it into a reality.
